Penguatan Pemahaman dan Keterampilan Siswa SMK GrafikaDalam Proses Cetak Offset Menggunakan Tinta Cetak Ramah Lingkungan
Abstract
Abstrak: Program pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman dan keterampilan siswa SMK Grafika Bina Media Medan dalam menerapkan konsep green printing melalui penggunaan tinta ramah lingkungan pada proses cetak offset. Permasalahan utama yang dihadapi mitra adalah masih digunakannya tinta konvensional berbasis solvent yang berpotensi mencemari lingkungan serta belum adanya sistem pengelolaan limbah bahan kimia (B3) di ruang praktik. Kegiatan dilaksanakan selama delapan minggu melalui beberapa tahapan, yaitu pra-kegiatan, sosialisasi, pelatihan dan workshop, kampanye edukasi, serta monitoring dan evaluasi. Metode pelaksanaan menggunakan pendekatan partisipatif dengan melibatkan dosen sebagai fasilitator dan mahasiswa sebagai pendamping praktik. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan pada aspek hardskill dan softskill peserta. Pemahaman teori siswa terhadap konsep tinta ramah lingkungan meningkat dari 25% menjadi 92%, sedangkan kemampuan praktik penggunaan tinta water-based dan bio- based ink meningkat dari 30% menjadi 88%. Selain itu, kesadaran lingkungan dan kerja sama tim juga meningkat hingga 85%. Mitra berhasil menghasilkan modul pembelajaran Green Printing, dokumen SOP pengelolaan limbah tinta, serta 10 karya poster kampanye “Go Green Printing”. Kegiatan ini memberikan dampak positif terhadap penguatan pembelajaran vokasi berbasis lingkungan dan diharapkan menjadi model replikasi bagi SMK grafika lainnya.

Abstract: This community service program aims to enhance the understanding and skills of students at SMK Grafika Bina Media Medan in implementing the concept of green printing through the use of eco-friendly inks in the offset printing process. The main problem faced by the partner school is the continued use of solvent-based inks that harm the environment and the absence of a hazardous waste (B3) management system in the printing laboratory. The program was carried out over eight weeks through several stages, including pre-activity preparation, socialization, training and workshops, educational campaigns, and monitoring and evaluation. The implementation method employed a participatory approach, with lecturers acting as facilitators and students as practical assistants. The results showed significant improvement in both hardskills and softskills of the participants. Theoretical understanding of eco-friendly inks increased from 25% to 92%, while practical skills in using water-based and bio-based inks improved from 30% to 88%. Environmental awareness and teamwork also rose by 85%. The program produced a Green Printing learning module, an SOP document for ink waste management, and ten student-designed posters promoting the “Go Green Printing” campaign. This activity had a positive impact on strengthening environmentally oriented vocational learning and is expected to serve as a model for similar schools.
