Abstract

Abstract:

Housewives in the East Helvetia area of Medan were chosen as the location for this community service activity. Housewives who were members of arisan became the focus of the training activity. Ten people attended the activity. A waste bank was already operating, which influenced the choice of location. Therefore, it was relatively easy to expand the recycling focus to include used cooking oil waste. Initial socialization, marketing strategy counseling, used cooking oil education, and soap making counseling were components of the activity procedure. Education about the environmental and health risks associated with used cooking oil, teaching how to make soap from used cooking oil and its potential use as a raw material for laundry soap were the objectives of this activity.
