THE IMPACT OF PATIENT SAFETY AWARENESS TRAINING ON THE KNOWLEDGE OF HEAD NURSES AT WEST JAVA DISTRICT HOSPITAL

Abstract


Abstrak: Keselamatan pasien sangat penting dalam layanan kesehatan berkualitas. Survei tahun 2023 di RSUD di Jawa Barat menunjukkan tingkat keselamatan pasien pada level sedang, dengan skor 63,6%. Tujuan: Inisiatif pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan meningkatkan kesadaran keselamatan pasien di antara kepala ruangan melalui pelatihan komprehensif. Metode: Pelatihan diawali dengan pre-test untuk mengevaluasi pemahaman awal, dilanjutkan dengan materi teoretis dan praktis terkait keselamatan pasien. Sebanyak 18 kepala ruangan ikut serta, dan post-test dilakukan untuk menilai kemajuan. Hasil: Pelatihan ini secara signifikan meningkatkan pengetahuan tentang kesadaran keselamatan pasien, dengan peningkatan skor post-test sebesar 6,67 poin. Penilaian umpan balik menunjukkan kepuasan tinggi terhadap materi pelatihan dan metode pengajaran, serta kesediaan peserta untuk menerapkan pengetahuan yang diperoleh dalam pemberian pelayanan kesehatan sehari-hari. Kesimpulan: Program ini berhasil meningkatkan pengetahuan tentang kesadaran keselamatan pasien pada kepala ruangan. Pelatihan berkelanjutan disarankan untuk memperkuat budaya keselamatan di rumah sakit. Inisiatif ini bisa menjadi model bagi institusi kesehatan lainnya yang ingin meningkatkan praktik keselamatan pasien disemua unit pelayanan.

Background:Patient safety is a critical component of quality healthcare services. A 2023 survey conducted at a hospital in West Java revealed that patient safety levels were moderate, with a score of 63.6%. Objective: This community outreach initiative aimed to enhance patient safety awareness among head nurses through comprehensive training. Methods: The training began with a pre-test to evaluate baseline knowledge, followed by theoretical and practical sessions on patient safety. A total of 18 head nurses participated, and a post-test was administered to assess progress. Results: The training significantly increased knowledge about patient safety awareness, with post-test scores improving by 6.67 points. Feedback evaluations indicated high levels of satisfaction with the training content and teaching methods, as well as participants’ willingness to apply the acquired knowledge in their daily healthcare practices. Conclusion: The program successfully improved head nurses' knowledge about patient safety awareness. Ongoing training is recommended to further strengthen the safety culture within the hospital. This initiative could serve as a model for other healthcare institutions seeking to enhance patient safety practices across all service units.
